Carol Stone joined the City in August 2014 as the director of human resources and labor relations. Previous to the City, she served as administrative services manager for the Huron-Clinton Metroparks, a five-county regional public parks system in Southeast Michigan, from 2011 to 2014; assistant city manager for the City of Howell from 2005 – 2011, including interim roles as the director of parks and recreation and Downtown Development Authority director/Main Street manager; and administrative services manager for the City of Plymouth from 1980 – 2005, including a 12-month period as the interim Downtown Development Authority director. In these roles, she gained extensive knowledge in human resources, risk management, purchasing, marketing and communications, organizational leadership, and economic development.
Carol holds a bachelor’s degree in management with a minor in human resources from Madonna University. She is a senior certified professional by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and by the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) and has also served on the IPMA-HR Legislative Task Force.
In her role, she works closely with the city manager to address cross-departmental organizational challenges and strategically position the City to adapt to a changing workforce over the next several years.
