August 19, 2022 - On Saturday, August 27 from 12 – 4 p.m., families will ‘step right up’ in Downtown Midland to visit their favorite stores and restaurants and hear stories about circus life during the annual Downtown Story Day event. Participating businesses will create a cozy space for a volunteer to perform a “dramatic” reading of a children’s circus themed picture book carefully selected by librarians at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library.

Throughout the duration of the event, circus themed entertainment such as a balloon twister, face painters, and a strolling juggler will be provided. Guests are also invited to enjoy a complimentary small bag of popcorn from Pop-Pop’s Gourmet Treats trailer. Fancy Dogs Hot Dog Cart will also be in Downtown Midland serving hot dogs and cotton candy for purchase.

Downtown Story Day participating locations and stories include:

Ace Hardware & Sports - Fearless Mirabelle and Meg
Craft Hemp Company - Skippy Jon Jones Cirque de Ole
Go Great Lakes Bay Visitors Center - Extraordinary Jane
Grace A. Dow Memorial Library - Olivia Saves the Circus
Health Hut - The Secret Circus
Heather ‘n Holly - Zebra on the Go
