July 6, 2022 – The Midland City Council and City Planning Commission will jointly host land value consulting firm Urban3 to provide a final update on its economic productivity analysis conducted as part of the City Modern Master Plan on Thursday, July 7 at 6 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 333 W. Ellsworth Street.

Urban3 is a private consulting firm specializing in land value economics, property tax analysis, and community design that was hired to complete the analysis as part of the City Modern Master Plan update process. The update will include information on the economic productivity of individual properties, impact of development types on the City’s funding levels, areas of opportunity for future land use, and more.

“This analysis will help us understand the sustainability of the City’s current land development model, as well as tell us areas in which we can use new development to get a higher return on investment – which means more effective funding of City services,” said Director of Planning and Community Development Jacob Kain. ”While the analysis itself is heavily data-driven, the update will be an engaging and creative way to look at how the City’s operations are funded and, in turn, how that funding relates to the services that we provide to the public.”

As this meeting is structured as an update for City Council and the Planning Commission, public comment will not be taken; however, the meeting is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend or view it through the City’s channels.

The meeting will be broadcast live by the MCTV Network on cable television via Charter Spectrum channel 188 or U-verse 99; Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV and Fire Stick streaming devices via the MCTV Network app; and available online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/livestream. It will also be available for playback on these channels and on mobile devices via the free Cablecast Community Media app.
