[ARCHIVED] Michigan Notable Books Author Tour at the Library June 16

June 2, 2022 – Join the Library over Zoom at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, for a virtual author visit from Jim Bolone and Dave McVeigh, authors of The Dockporter: A Mackinac Island Novel.

It's the summer of 1989. Jack McGuinn is a dockporter, transporting tourists' luggage piled high in the basket of his bike on Mackinac Island, Michigan. He's got the season wired tight: a family cottage on the bluff, a dream job, and a loyal crew of hell-raising, tip-hustling buddies. When his old friend-turned bitter rival challenges him to ride a record-setting load, he takes the bet and soon realizes he's not just carrying suitcases, he's carrying the future of the island - which is about to be paved over for profit.

Copies of The Dockporter are available for checkout at the Library. This program will be conducted virtually via Zoom and registration is required. Please register at gadml.librarycalendar.com from 12 a.m. on June 9 through 3 p.m. on June 16 to receive the Zoom link.

This event is part of the Michigan Notable Books Author Tour. It is sponsored by Michigan Humanities, funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities; the Library of Michigan; and the Michigan Center for the Book.

The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is located at 1710 W. St. Andrews Rd and is a service of the City of Midland. For more information or to learn more about the Library, call 989-837-3449 or visit www.gadml.org.
