[ARCHIVED] Miracle League Hosts Social Media Team Naming Contest

March 2, 2022 – It’s almost time to throw out the first pitch for the Middle of the Mitt Miracle League, so Midland Parks and Recreation is seeking the community’s help in naming its teams for the upcoming season.

To participate in the naming contest, residents should ‘like’ the Middle of the Mitt Miracle League Facebook page (www.facebook.com/midlandmiracle) and submit to three (3) potential team names by commenting on the Team Naming Contest post.  Winning team names will be selected by a committee of Middle of the Mitt Miracle League volunteers and Parks and Recreation staff. Participants whose team names are selected will receive a Middle of the Mitt Miracle League hat and two (2) single-day passes to Plymouth Pool.

Contest rules:

  • Entries should not be trademarks, registered brand names, or the names of collegiate or professional sports teams.
  • Entries that are obscene, offensive and/or derogatory towards a group or individual will be disqualified.
  • Entries are limited to no more than three (3) team names per individual account.
  • If multiple participants submit the same winning team name, all winners will receive a prize.

The community naming contest will end on Wednesday, March 16 at 5 p.m.

“The Midland community has been incredibly supportive of the Miracle Field project and our mission to give every person the opportunity to play baseball,” said Assistant Director of Public Services Marcie Post. “We’re very excited to give the community an opportunity to be a part of this league and are looking forward to seeing the creative names our residents submit.”

Opening Day for the Middle of the Mitt Miracle League will take place on Saturday, May 14 in Central Park. For more information on the Middle of the Mitt Miracle League, please visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/miracle
