A chessboard made from ice with stone chess pieces on it

January 27, 2022 – Stroll through a wonderland of more than 20 gorgeous ice sculptures as Downtown Midland hosts its first Winter Wanderland beginning Friday, February 18. Ice Guru, stars of the show Ice Brigade on Food Network, will take over the Downtown district to create ice sculptures of all shapes, sizes and interactivity.

Ice sculptures on display will include an ice throne, the Tridge, playable ice versions of popular games such as Plinko, checkers, chess, shuffleboard, and cornhole, and recognizable logos from Downtown businesses.

The ice games and sculptures will be on display beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 18 and will remain on display until they melt, so plan to visit them as soon as possible. Please be respectful of all of the sculptures and games to ensure they last as long as possible.

This event is made possible by sponsors Ace Hardware & Sports, Benjamin F. Edwards, Bliss Bridal Boutique, Craft Hemp Company, Delta College, Ieuter Insurance Group, Mercantile Bank, Midland First United Methodist Church, Molasses Smokehouse, Joyful Tantrum, Peel ‘n Pare, Pizza Sam’s, Serendipity Road, Three Rivers Corporation, and Ways to Wellness.

For more information about Winter Wanderland, call the Midland Downtown Development Authority at 989-837-3330 or visit www.downtownmidland.com/events/winter-wanderland.
