[ARCHIVED] Winter 2021 Tax Deadline is Monday, February 14

January 21, 2022 – The City of Midland reminds property owners that the last day for payment of Winter 2021 taxes, without penalty, is Monday, February 14, 2022.

Winter tax bills may be paid by cash or check at the Midland City Treasurer's Office, 333 W. Ellsworth Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Credit cards are not accepted for property tax payments. After-hours payments may be placed in the secure drop box located inside the main entrance of Midland City Hall.

Property owners who have signed up for the City’s Auto-Pay service will see the billed amount of their taxes automatically withdrawn from their chosen bank account on February 14, 2022.

After February 14, 2022, a four percent penalty will be applied to the unpaid balance of Winter 2021 property taxes.

On March 1, the City will turn delinquent real and special property taxes over to the Midland County Treasurer, who then assesses additional fees plus one percent interest for each month of delinquency thereafter.

The City bills and collects winter taxes on behalf of other local governments and school districts as a service to those entities. The winter tax bill does not include a tax levy for the City.

The total winter millage rate on principal residence property in the City of Midland, within the Midland Public School District, is 8.2702 mills; the total on non-principal residence property is 17.4848 mills.

For more information, call the City Treasurer’s Office at 989-837-3315 or visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/treasurer.
