[ARCHIVED] Survey Crews Begin Work for Concept 5 Sewer Improvement Plan

Two men in high visibility vests stand on a road putting a pole down a manhole

October 29, 2021 – Residents in some areas of the city may see crews checking catch basins, manholes, and other infrastructure on their streets in the coming weeks. Don’t be alarmed – that’s just the next phase of the City’s Sanitary and Storm Sewer Study at work!

Over the next 7 – 8 weeks, a survey crew from professional engineering consultants Moore + Bruggink will collect photos and other data from several areas of the city. This data will be used to complete a topographical survey needed to begin work on Concept 5 items from the Sewer Improvement Plan in 2022. Features the crew will focus on include manholes, driveways, curbs and gutters, sidewalks, utility poles, catch basins, and utility access vaults, as well as capturing land elevation shots.

The crew will be traveling in a white utility truck and wearing high-visibility vests, as much of their surveying work will take place in or near the roadway. Motorists are asked to exercise caution while driving in areas where the crew is working.
