September 24, 2021 – The Library invites patrons of all ages to participate in a “Fall Into Reading” gourd decorating contest for the chance to win prizes. Participants can decorate gourd(s) using paint, paper, oil pastels, yarn, and other items to create a book character, a scene from a favorite story, or something else - wherever their creativity takes them!
Pick up a gourd and register for the contest at the Library Reference Desk. Decorated gourd(s) can be returned to the Library October 4 – 8. All gourds will go on display in the Library for public voting October 12 – 30.
Beginning October 12, patrons can pick up voting slips at the Library Reference Desk and cast a ballot for their favorites in the following categories: Children (grades 5 and under), Tweens and Teens (grades 6 – 12), and Adults. Two lucky winners will be selected from each group to receive a gift card on November 1!
Please note that gourds are available on a first-come, first-served basis and quantities are limited. One gourd per entrant will be provided by the Library; however, patrons may enter additional gourds into the contest if they supply their own.
