[ARCHIVED] Winter Tax Deadline Tuesday, February 17

January 30, 2015 – The City of Midland reminds property owners that the last day for payment of December 2014 taxes – without penalty – is Tuesday, February 17, 2015.

Winter tax bills may be paid by check or cash at the Midland City Treasurer's Office, 333 W. Ellsworth Street, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Credit cards are not accepted. After-hours payments may be placed in the depository located inside the main entrance of Midland City Hall.

If you are signed up for the City’s Auto-Pay service, the billed amount of your taxes will be automatically withdrawn from the bank account of your choosing on February 17, 2015.

Winter tax payments received from February 18 through March 2 will have a four percent penalty applied to the remaining balance.

On March 3, the City will turn delinquent real and special property taxes over to the Midland County Treasurer, who then assesses a four percent administration fee plus one percent interest for each month of delinquency thereafter.

The City bills and collects winter taxes on behalf of other local governments and school districts as a service. The winter tax bill does not include a tax levy for the City.

The total winter millage rate on principal residence property in the city of Midland – within the Midland Public Schools District – is 6.1703 mills; the total on non-principal residence property is 14.3303 mills.

For more information, call the City Treasurer’s Office at 989-837-3315. You can also find valuable information about your property’s tax history through the City’s tax billing information website, available at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov.
