[ARCHIVED] Library Receives Grant

December 19, 2014 – The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library received a grant for $2,000 from The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation. These funds will be used towards operations including programming and promotional activities.

“The Trustees of the Foundation recognize the value of the library to our community, and we appreciate their continued support as we strive to inspire lifelong learning,” Melissa Barnard, library director, said about the recent grant.

“The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library was among our first grantees in 1938. Since that time, the Trustees have awarded at least one grant per year to the library for a total of $9,140,616,” said The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation President Macauley Whiting, Jr.

In 2012, the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library was awarded a $3,000,000 grant from The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation for infrastructure and interior improvements.

The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is a service of the City of Midland.

The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation was established by Mrs. Grace A. Dow in 1936 in memory of her husband, Dr. Herbert H. Dow, founder of The Dow Chemical Company. A major goal of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life for Midland and Michigan residents.
