December 15, 2020 – The City of Midland and the Midland Downtown Development Authority are pleased to announce the hiring of Melissa Farley as the DDA’s downtown events coordinator.

In this role, Farley will oversee the planning and execution of Downtown Midland events and activities as well as spearhead promoting the downtown district to residents and visitors.

Originally from the Essexville area, Farley comes to the City after serving for six years at the Midland Business Alliance (MBA), where she held several titles including Director of Innovation & Small Business and Director of MBA Events. Previous to the MBA, she served as the Dow corporate volunteer manager with United Way of Midland County and as the marketing and promotions coordinator for Downtown Bay City. Farley holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a specialization in public relations from Michigan State University and has significant experience in event coordination, community relations, and strategic planning.

“Melissa’s economic development background paired with her passion for seeing our community succeed make her the perfect addition to the Downtown Midland team,” said Community Affairs Director Selina Tisdale. “With Melissa’s help, Downtown Midland is ready to hit the ground running in 2021.”
