October 16, 2020 – Over the next several weeks, contractors will begin final work on the Eastman Avenue expansion project.
Concrete work on the project is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Friday, October 16. Most paving work is anticipated to begin and be completed during the week of October 19. This includes paving new traffic lanes, which will occur during daylight hours, and resurfacing of the existing lanes, which will likely occur at night. Lane shifts will occur to route traffic while paving is underway, but this is not expected to cause any additional delays or closures.
During the week of October 26, any remaining paving work from the previous week will be completed. New traffic signals will be installed and programmed and pavement markings for traffic lanes, stop bars, and other delineation will be added. Restoration of the outlawn and surrounding areas will begin this week, but may be completed in the following weeks.
At this time, the project is on schedule to be completed by Friday, October 30; however, residents are reminded that these activities are highly weather-dependent and inclement weather may impact the construction schedule. Should an issue arise that would change this schedule, updates will be provided.
Heavy traffic delays exist in this area during construction, so motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes around the project if possible. Businesses in the Midland Mall area and along Joe Mann Boulevard may also be accessed via Jefferson Avenue.
Motorists traveling through or to a destination within the construction zone should drive with caution while work is underway.
