Eastman Avenue Reconstruction Begins August 3

A black asphalt road with yellow painted lines

July 31, 2020 – Beginning Monday, August 3, crews will begin a street reconstruction project on Eastman Avenue that will construct additional southbound lanes on Eastman at Airport Road, upgrade traffic signals, and resurface Eastman from US-10 to Joe Mann Boulevard.

The project will create a dedicated right turn lane on southbound Eastman at Airport Road as well as an additional southbound through lane on the north side of Airport.

During construction, Eastman will be reduced to one lane is both directions from Joe Mann Boulevard to W. Wackerly Street. Construction and utility work will occur during the day, while paving activities will occur at night.

Heavy traffic delays are anticipated in this area during construction, so motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes around the project if possible. Businesses in the Midland Mall area and along Joe Mann Boulevard may also be accessed via Jefferson Avenue.

Motorists traveling through or to a destination within the construction zone should drive with caution while work is underway. Work is estimated to be completed in October 2020.

For more information, contact City Engineering at 989-837-3348 or visit Project updates will be posted on this site, as well as on the City’s Construction Updates website at and on the City of Midland Facebook page at and on Twitter at @CityofMidlandMI.

Residents are reminded that due to the nature of construction activities, the information provided above may change at any time. Should an issue arise that would change this schedule, the City will provide updates via the methods listed above.
