June 1, 2020 – In light of current executive orders and public health directives related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Midland Civic Arena has melted ice rinks and cancelled previously-scheduled summer activities and programs at this time.
An estimated timeline for the reopening of the arena has not been determined.
“With continued uncertainty about our ability to reopen to the public and provide the activities we typically offer this time of year, we’ve made the difficult decision to melt the ice rinks while they’re unable to be used,” said arena manager Kari Knake “We hope to be able to reopen soon and look forward to welcoming our patrons back to the arena when we’re able to do so.”
The City will continue to monitor public health information regarding COVID-19 and will reassess and alter its response as needed.
All City offices and buildings and non-essential City services are closed to the public through June 12, 2020 as outlined by Executive Order 2020-96 (“Safer at Home”) issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Thursday, May 21.
