[ARCHIVED] Midland County Flooding Update - May 27, 6 pm

A flooded downtown Midland

May 27, 2020 - A narrow band of heavy rain is possible over portions of the central Great Lakes region Thursday through Thursday night. At this time, 1 to up to 2 inches of precipitation is expected, mainly northwest of the area, but potentially impacting northern portions of the Tittabawassee River basin. Saturated ground conditions will increase the probability of minor areal flooding and may cause moderate rises on local rivers.

Midland Sanitary Landfill Hours Extended to Sunday

The Midland Sanitary Landfill is currently open during its regular operating hours, daily 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Landfill will be open Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Customers accessing the Landfill will be required to show proof of Midland County residency. Debris generated outside of Midland County will not be accepted. Due to the high anticipated volume of customers accessing the Landfill, wait times may be significant.

Due to the presence of heavy equipment and the high volume of vehicle traffic and debris in flood-damaged areas in the City of Midland, customers with Friday refuse collection who live on streets where significant amounts of flood debris remain at the curb may not receive regular refuse and yard waste collection on Friday, May 29. These residents will see collection resume once debris collection has completed in their area. All customers with Friday Week 4 recycling collection will be collected as scheduled.
