[ARCHIVED] Investigation of Fatal Incident at Sanitary Landfill June 27

June 27, 2019 - On Thursday, June 27, 2019 at approximately 8:51 a.m., MidMichigan EMS, Midland Fire Department, and Midland Police Department were dispatched to 4311 E. Ashman St,, the City of Midland Sanitary Landfill. They were responding to a report of a man who was injured. Upon the arrival of Midland Fire Department, firefighters located the injured man and found him deceased.

This incident is being investigated by the Midland Police Department and no further information will be released at this time. Please keep the family and friends of this man in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.


UPDATE, 12:20 p.m. - The deceased man involved in this tragic accident has been identified as a 59 year old male from Hesperia, Michigan. From our initial investigation, this is believed to have been an accidental death and no foul play is suspected. The man was a private contractor doing work in the area and not a City of Midland employee.

His name will be released upon the notification of family.
