April 26, 2019 - The City of Midland began its annual water main flushing program on Monday, March 25. Due to inconsistent spring weather and a heavy spring workload, Water Distribution crews will begin flushing on Saturdays to complete the spring flushing schedule. Saturday flushing will take place in addition to the regular weekday schedule and will begin on Saturday, April 27. Flushing on Saturdays will continue until the flushing cycle is complete.
Water main flushing sometimes results in discolored water. While not harmful, tap water may appear orange in color for 5 to 15 minutes. Residents should avoid doing laundry while their water is discolored.
The City’s annual maintenance program helps ensure a high level of water quality by preventing corrosion and maintaining a proper disinfection residual. Information regarding daily flushing activities will be posted on the City’s website at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/1474/Water-Flushing-Program and via MCTV Cable Channel 96.
