[ARCHIVED] Beat the Winter Blues at City Forest with Midland Midwinter Chill

January 4, 2019 - Midland Parks and Recreation is excited to announce its newest event: the Midland Midwinter Chill! Compete in Midland’s first annual cardboard sled race down City Forest's sledding hill, sing songs by the fire, eat gooey s'mores, and watch a professional ice carver in action! Stay and toboggan with us for a midwinter glow after the festivities end – free glow sticks with every toboggan rental!

The Midland Midwinter Chill will take place on Saturday, January 26 from 3 – 7 p.m. at Midland City Forest. The schedule of events is as follows:

  • 3 p.m. – Cardboard sled races
  • 5 p.m. – Ice carving demonstration
  • 6 p.m. – S’mores and songs by the fire

Preregister for the cardboard sled races by contacting Parks and Recreation by Thursday, January 24 to get in on the fun! Visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/chill for sled construction guidelines and award categories as well as sled race registration forms and event information.
