[ARCHIVED] Notice of Sanitary Sewer Overflow on October 24

October 25, 2018  The City of Midland Wastewater Plant has notified the public of a sanitary sewer overflow event that occurred yesterday, October 24.

On Wednesday, October 24, a contractor working in the area of Perrine Road and Pebble Creek Drive hit a sanitary sewer force main, resulting in the discharge of less than 300 gallons of untreated sewage into a wooded area nearby. The overflow did not enter any waterways in the area. Upon notification, Wastewater Treatment Plant staff successfully completed a repair to the main and prevented additional overflow.

In accordance with state law, the Michigan Department of Environment Quality and the Midland County Health Department were notified immediately upon discovery of the overflow.
