[ARCHIVED] Retirement Celebration Planned for Ward 1 City Councilman Tom Adams

City Councilman Tom Adams

October 23, 2018 – Members of the Midland community are invited to share in well wishes and refreshments at a retirement celebration honoring Midland City Councilman Tom Adams on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 6 – 6:45 p.m. at Midland City Hall. Adams did not seek re-election and is retiring from the Midland City Council after 13 years of service.

The event will take place before Monday’s City Council meeting in the City Hall atrium, located at 333 W. Ellsworth Street. A proclamation honoring Councilman Adams will be issued at the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers.

“Councilman Adams has been a dedicated public servant to the Midland community for much of his life, and he has represented the people of Ward 1 with thoughtful, caring leadership for his entire career,” said Midland Mayor Maureen Donker. “It has been a pleasure to serve with Tom as a member of Council, and I wish him continued success and happiness in retirement.”

A native of Midland, Councilman Adams has served six terms as the Ward 1 Council representative, beginning in November 2005. He has been a public servant for 45 years in the Midland County court system and served as Community Corrections Manager from 2003 until his retirement in 2013. In addition to Midland City Council, he has also been involved in numerous organizations, including the MBS International Airport Board of Directors, United Way of Midland County, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Great Lakes Bay Region, and Midland Rotary.
