September 21, 2018 – National Good Neighbor Day is celebrated annually on September 28 – and this year, the special day will also kick off both Midland Neighbor Week and Cultural Awareness Month in the Midland community.
During the week of September 28 – October 5, 2018, Midland residents are encouraged to "stop by and say hi" to their neighbors in an effort to build a more welcoming, connected community. This year, Midland Neighbor Week is partnering with the Midland Area Community Foundation’s Cultural Awareness Coalition (CAC) to kick off Cultural Awareness Month on National Good Neighbor Day, September 28, as a celebration of the 2018 CAC theme “Migration, Home, and Belonging.” From September 28 – October 31, a variety of events, contests, and activities will be available to all members of the community around this theme.
Participation in Midland Neighbor Week comes in many forms: hosting a neighborhood gathering, performing a task or chore that helps a neighbor, or even introducing yourself to a new neighbor you’ve never met. Residents should celebrate this week in a way that promotes kindness and peace in the Midland community.
Residents can visit a new E-CityHall topic at http://bit.ly/neighborweek2018 to share their neighborhood gatherings, find resources and tips for getting involved in Midland Neighbor Week, and get ideas on how to be a good neighbor all year round. Follow the City’s Facebook page for more information and updates during the week of Midland Neighbor Week.
