August 21, 2018 - Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, officers from the Midland Police Department (MPD) and community members will come together for the final “Cone with a Cop” event of the summer. This fun-filled event helps to build relationships between our officers and our community members with a common theme that everyone enjoys: ice cream! “Cone with a Cop” will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Pizza Sam’s, 102 W. Main St., in Midland. This event is geared towards younger children; however, it is open to the public and everyone is welcome.
During the event, Ashman St. between Larkin and Main streets will be closed from 5:15 - 7:45 p.m. to provide a safe area for children to check out several police cars as well as the Midland SWAT bus.
Thanks to a generous sponsorship by RE/MAX of Midland Agent Dan Reimer, every child who attends the event will receive one free small cone or scoop for each child who attends. Event sponsor State Farm Insurance Agent Steve Witt will also provide a drawing for two backpacks filled with school supplies to be given away during “Cone with a Cop”.
This fall, MPD will bring back its popular “Coffee with a Cop” series for residents to meet with officers, ask questions, and learn more about the department’s work in the City of Midland.
Any questions on “Cone with a Cop” can be directed to MPD Community Relations Sergeant Chris Wenzell at 989-839-4704 or cwenzell@midland-mi.org.
