October 20, 2017 – The Pere-Marquette Rail Trail will be temporarily closed from Currie Parkway to the Tridge for one day during the first week of November as crews complete a sanitary sewer relocation project. This work will require the use of above-ground piping to temporarily bypass the sewer system.
Beginning Monday, October 23, crews will begin clearing brush to make room for the new pipe installation, which will begin on Tuesday, October 31. During the project, a temporary crossing ramp will be installed at the location where the bypass pipe goes across the rail trail. Pedestrians are encouraged to use caution in the area, and bicyclists and those using wheeled methods of transportation should be especially cautious when using the ramp.
This section of the rail trail will then close for approximately one day on or around Friday, November 3 to allow for crews to complete the tie-in. The sanitary sewer is being relocated to accommodate new bridge piers for the M-20 Bridge replacement project being conducted by Michigan Department of Transportation next spring.
