September 29, 2017 – The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is embracing Midland’s place as the City of Modern Explorers in its latest free lecture series! This fall’s series, entitled “Modern Explorers” focuses on the quest to know more about the frontiers of our world today and will take guests to the edge of discovery on a variety of topics.
On Thursday, October 5, Great Lakes underwater diver and historian Ric Mixter will present “The Edmund Fitzgerald Investigations.” Ric has written, produced or served as an expert on more than 30 programs on shipwrecks for PBS, Discovery Channel, and the History Channel. He has dived and videotaped more than 100 shipwrecks, including the Edmund Fitzgerald. Listen along as Ric shares his own exciting underwater video, interviews, and stories of his exploration of Lake Superior’s most famous wreck.
