August 8, 2017 – The City of Midland Wastewater Plant has notified the public of a sanitary sewer overflow event that occurred last night.
On Monday evening, August 7, a break in a sanitary sewer force main was discovered underneath N. Saginaw Road between Hillcrest Road and W. St. Andrews Road in Midland. The break resulted in the discharge of approximately 3,200 gallons of untreated sewage into the storm water system. The break was isolated and discharge stopped within 130 minutes of discovery. In accordance with state law, the Michigan Department of Environment Quality and the Midland County Health Department (MCHD) were notified immediately upon discovery of the leak.
