Where We're At

Our community is conveniently located in the center of Michigan, just 15 minutes away from MBS International Airport. Private and corporate jets can also be serviced at our community's general aviation airport, Jack Barstow Municipal Airport, located in Midland. Our community is part of the Great Lakes Bay Region.

If a nice drive is more your style, a two- to three-hour jaunt in any direction by car will fulfill most of your vacation, sightseeing, or big-City needs including spending time on the shores of Michigan’s five Great Lakes.

Safe Community

In 2016, Midland was named the first community in Michigan - and just the 27th in the country - as an accredited Safe Community by the National Safety Council's Safe Communities America program. This program requires communities to identify, address, and develop a plan to continue combating sources of preventable deaths in the community. K-12 Education

Midland’s K-12 public and private school systems enjoy a long-standing tradition of excellence. Key recent achievement include:

  • For the past five years, U.S. News and World Report ranked both H.H. Dow High School and Midland High School as 'Silver Medal' Schools.
  • The Spring 2016 MPS SAT Composite score ranks in the top 5% of all public school districts in the state of Michigan. Four MPS elementary schools (Adams, Chestnut Hill, Plymouth, and Woodcrest) became authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) schools in Spring 2016. The three remaining elementary schools are on track to gain authorization in Spring 2017.
  • In 2015-2016, MPS students earned over $16,500,000 in scholarships
  • In the 2016 Top-to-Bottom MDE rankings, 6 of the 11 district schools ranked above the 80th percentile. Three of the six ranked in the 90th percentile.
