May 15, 2015 – Midland residents may notice some changes in the City’s monthly recycling collection program. Between now and August, work crews will place new stickers on brown recycle carts to help identify that these carts are for recyclables only.
By mid-June, residents should also expect to receive collection schedule magnets for 2015 to 2020 and a new list of items that are acceptable and unacceptable.
Some of the new acceptable items include:• Empty Aerosol Cans• Wax Coated Cartons used for Milk, Orange Juice, and more• Juice BoxesSome new non-acceptable items include:• Plastic Grocery Bags• Ziploc Bags and Saran Wrap• Dry Cleaning Bags• Plastic and Metal HangersRecyclables must be able to fit loosely inside your brown recycle cart. This includes oversized cardboard, which may need to be cut down to fit. You can set out up to three 14-gallon totes or like-size containers if you have more items. If you need additional brown carts, call the Department of Public Services to lease up to two more for $3 each, per month.
