Cross Country Skiing

Know Before You Go!

At City Forest we are always working to make sure our attractions are up and running but weather isn't always cooperative. Please use our Activity Update App (called Rainout Line) at 989-399-0506 or online to check the conditions of your favorite attractions such as cross country skiing or snowshoeing.

Trail Information

Midland City Forest offers wonderful cross country skiing on groomed trails for classic and skate skiing. Trails are designed for skiers of all levels, from beginner to an advanced 11k loop. A .7 mile beginner trail is lighted from dusk until 8 p.m. every evening. Routes and distances can be obtained by clicking on the trail map.

Rental Rates
Classic skis, boots and poles can be rented for $10 per 2 hour rental, skate skis can be rented for $15 per 2 hour rental, and they are available at the rental shed at the east end of the parking lot directly north of the Chalet.

Canine and Equine Use

We ask that during the winter season when cross country ski trails are being groomed that dog walkers and equestrians do not utilize the trail system because it undermines the grooming efforts. An alternate option for equestrian use is the trail that runs parallel to the rail trail from North Bradley to to Coleman with trailer parking at North Bradley.
